Long-term records reveal patterns that improve herd management, while having poor records can result in pedigree errors and the risk of unintended inbreeding, among other hazards. To avoid overwhelm, start with your youngest heifer and work backwards to the oldest cow. Once everything is in its place, you can more easily provide treatments based on what previously worked and never forget an AI sire used for breeding.
